I feel like I should say something about Barack Obama and last night, but everyone else has pretty much said everything of substance and reiterated it in forty different ways by now. So, in lieu of a long-winded philosophical reflection on what the election means to me and the world, I give you… Katt Williams!
White white white white white white white gimme the book of vice presidents… That part cracks me up every time. Joking aside, though, this is truly the most significant event I’ve witnessed in my short lifetime. I’m not saying Obama is the Messiah or the next Karl Marx, but no matter what happens, things are going to be different from now on. This country has succeeded by following a set script for over 200 years, but I think we’re beginning to see that the original script might have developed some flaws over time. Whether a Democrat, Republican, or that creepy Chuck Baldwin supporter I interviewed for journalism class yesterday, I think we all realize the country needs a different direction. For better or worse, that is what’s going to happen.
Lastly, I want to say that I didn’t realize how much Obama’s victory meant to me until it actually happened. Sitting there watching his speech felt like a continuation of the path Martin Luther King, Jr. started to carve out in the ’60s. As an African-American, seeing Barack Obama on that platform was more inspiring that I ever could have imagined. While his legacy in American history has yet to be written, Obama is already a modern black hero. No matter the politics, I hope everyone can appreciate the monumental social significance of November 4, 2008.

Thats not Barry Bonds….
